Prof. Dr. Shamim Rashid

Prof. Dr. Shamim Rashid is a renowned Neurology (Brain, Nerve, Epilepsy, Stroke, Paralysis, Headache) specialist in Dhaka with over 30 years of clinical experience, who passed SSC in 1984 from Nazrul Shikhalaya, Moghbazar and HSC from Dhaka College in 1986, completed his MBBS from Sir Salimullah Medical College & Mitford Hospital in 1994, and joined the health cadre through the 17th BCS; he later earned his MD in Neurology from Bangladesh Medical University (former BSMMU) in 2009, was promoted to Assistant Professor in 2016 and Associate Professor in 2023, and is currently serving as Professor of Neurology at the National Institute of Neurosciences & Hospital. He has extensive expertise in managing epilepsy, stroke, migraine, neuropathy, paralysis, nerve diseases, dementia, Parkinson’s disease, movement disorders, and other brain-related conditions, and has attended major international congresses including the American Academy of Neurology (USA), European Academy of Neurology (Amsterdam), Stroke Congress (India), and Movement Disorder Conferences (Canada & Hong Kong), along with specialized epilepsy training in Bangkok and Sri Lanka. Strongly involved in research with numerous national and international publications, he currently sees patients at Labaid Diagnostic, Malibagh (House # B65, Chowdhury Para, Malibagh, Dhaka) where his visiting hours are 7 PM to 9 PM, closed on Fridays.
