Entacyd 250 mg + 400 mg

Tablet

Generic: Aluminium Hydroxide + Magnesium Hydroxide

Square Pharmaceuticals PLC.

Therapeutic Class: Antacid

Indications

Hyperacidity, heartburn, acid indigestion, gastritis, peptic ulcer and reflux oesophagitis.

Pharmacology

Aluminium hydroxide and magnesium hydroxide neutralise gastric acid and relieve the symptoms of hyperacidity. The constipating effect of aluminium is balanced by the laxative effect of magnesium.

Dosage & Administration

Adult: 1 to 2 tablets (chewed) or 2 to 4 teaspoonfuls (10 to 20 ml) of suspension, 1 to 3 hours after meals and at bedtime, or as directed by the physician. Shake the suspension well before use.

Side Effects

Constipation or diarrhoea, nausea and a chalky taste. Prolonged use of high doses may lower blood phosphate.

Precautions & Warnings

Use with caution in kidney impairment, where aluminium and magnesium may accumulate. Antacids reduce the absorption of many medicines, such as tetracyclines, quinolone antibiotics and iron; keep a gap of 2 to 3 hours between them. Not for prolonged use without medical advice.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to aluminium or magnesium salts. Severe kidney impairment. Low blood phosphate (hypophosphataemia).

Storage Conditions

Store below 30°C in a cool, dry place, away from light. Do not freeze the suspension. Keep out of the reach of children.
