Pharmacology
Propranolol blocks beta-1 and beta-2 adrenergic receptors, reducing heart rate, the force of contraction and blood pressure, and blunting the physical symptoms of anxiety.
প্রোপ্রানোলল বিটা-১ ও বিটা-২ অ্যাড্রেনার্জিক রিসেপ্টরকে বাধা দিয়ে হৃৎস্পন্দনের হার, সংকোচনের শক্তি ও রক্তচাপ কমায় এবং উদ্বেগের শারীরিক উপসর্গ প্রশমিত করে।
Dosage & Administration
1 tablet 2-3 times daily.
মাইগ্রেন প্রতিরোধ ও এসেনশিয়াল ট্রেমরে: প্রাপ্তবয়স্ক: শুরুতে ৪০ mg দিনে ২ থেকে ৩ বার; সাধারণ রক্ষণাবেক্ষণ মাত্রা দৈনিক ৮০ mg থেকে ১৬০ mg।
বুক ধড়ফড়, ঘাম বা হাত কাঁপাসহ উদ্বেগে: দৈনিক একবার ৪০ mg; প্রয়োজনে বাড়িয়ে ৪০ mg দিনে ৩ বার।
উচ্চ রক্তচাপে: শুরুতে ৮০ mg দিনে ২ বার; সাধারণ রক্ষণাবেক্ষণ মাত্রা দৈনিক ১৬০ mg থেকে ৩২০ mg।
Side Effects
Tiredness, cold hands.
ক্লান্তি, হাত-পা ঠান্ডা হয়ে যাওয়া, হৃৎস্পন্দন ধীর হওয়া, মাথা ঘোরা, ঘুমের ব্যাঘাত, বমি বমি ভাব ও শ্বাসনালির সংকোচন।
Precautions & Warnings
To be used on the advice of a registered physician.
Must not be stopped abruptly, especially in ischaemic heart disease; the dose should be reduced gradually.
In diabetes it may mask the symptoms of low blood sugar. Use with caution in heart failure, hepatic or renal impairment and in pregnancy.

হঠাৎ বন্ধ করা যাবে না, বিশেষত ইস্কেমিক হৃদরোগে; ধীরে ধীরে মাত্রা কমিয়ে বন্ধ করতে হবে।
ডায়াবেটিস রোগীদের রক্তে শর্করা কমে যাওয়ার উপসর্গ আড়াল করতে পারে। হার্ট ফেইলিউর, যকৃৎ বা কিডনির সমস্যা ও গর্ভাবস্থায় সতর্কতা প্রয়োজন।
Contraindications
Asthma or history of bronchospasm, uncontrolled heart failure, marked bradycardia, second- or third-degree heart block, sick sinus syndrome, cardiogenic shock, hypotension, severe peripheral arterial disease and untreated phaeochromocytoma.
হাঁপানি বা শ্বাসনালি সংকোচনের ইতিহাস, অনিয়ন্ত্রিত হার্ট ফেইলিউর, অতিরিক্ত ধীর হৃৎস্পন্দন, দ্বিতীয় বা তৃতীয় মাত্রার হার্ট ব্লক, সিক সাইনাস সিনড্রোম, কার্ডিওজেনিক শক, নিম্ন রক্তচাপ, প্রান্তীয় ধমনির তীব্র রোগ এবং চিকিৎসাবিহীন ফিওক্রোমোসাইটোমা।
