Tablet

Generic: Bisoprolol Fumarate

Square Pharmaceuticals PLC.

Therapeutic Class: Cardioselective Beta Blocker

Indications

Hypertension. Angina pectoris. Stable chronic heart failure, as an addition to standard therapy.

Pharmacology

Bisoprolol is a highly beta-1 selective adrenoceptor blocker. It slows the heart rate, reduces the force of contraction and cardiac output, and lowers renin release, so blood pressure and the oxygen demand of the heart fall.

Precautions & Warnings

Do not stop suddenly; reduce the dose gradually. Use with caution in diabetes (may mask signs of low blood sugar), COPD, peripheral vascular disease, psoriasis and first-degree heart block.
