Indications
Ear, nose and throat infections (otitis media, sinusitis, tonsillitis), respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections and dental abscess.
Also used with other drugs for H. pylori eradication and in typhoid fever where the organism is sensitive.

Pharmacology
Amoxicillin is a broad-spectrum aminopenicillin. It binds to penicillin-binding proteins and inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis, killing the bacteria. It is inactivated by beta-lactamase producing organisms.
অ্যামোক্সিসিলিন একটি ব্রড-স্পেকট্রাম অ্যামিনোপেনিসিলিন। এটি পেনিসিলিন-বাইন্ডিং প্রোটিনের সাথে যুক্ত হয়ে ব্যাকটেরিয়ার কোষপ্রাচীর তৈরি বন্ধ করে এবং ব্যাকটেরিয়া ধ্বংস করে। বিটা-ল্যাকটামেজ উৎপাদনকারী জীবাণু একে নিষ্ক্রিয় করে দেয়।
Dosage & Administration
Adult: 250-500 mg every 8 hours; up to 1 g every 8 hours in severe infection.
Child: 20-40 mg/kg daily in 3 divided doses (up to 90 mg/kg daily in severe infection), or as directed by the physician.
May be taken with or without food.

শিশু: দৈনিক ২০-৪০ mg/kg তিনটি বিভক্ত মাত্রায় (তীব্র সংক্রমণে দৈনিক ৯০ mg/kg পর্যন্ত), অথবা চিকিৎসকের পরামর্শ অনুযায়ী।
খাবারের আগে বা পরে সেবন করা যায়।
Side Effects
Nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea and skin rash are the most common.
Rarely: allergic reactions including anaphylaxis, antibiotic-associated colitis.
বমি বমি ভাব, বমি, ডায়রিয়া ও ত্বকে ফুসকুড়ি সবচেয়ে বেশি দেখা যায়।
কদাচিৎ: অ্যানাফাইল্যাক্সিসসহ অ্যালার্জিজনিত প্রতিক্রিয়া, অ্যান্টিবায়োটিক-জনিত কোলাইটিস।
Precautions & Warnings
Ask about penicillin allergy before use. Reduce the dose in severe renal impairment. Rash is more likely in glandular fever.
Complete the full prescribed course. Use only on the prescription of a registered physician.
ব্যবহারের আগে পেনিসিলিনে অ্যালার্জি আছে কি না জেনে নিন। কিডনির তীব্র সমস্যায় মাত্রা কমাতে হবে। গ্ল্যান্ডুলার ফিভারে ফুসকুড়ির ঝুঁকি বেশি।
নির্ধারিত কোর্স সম্পূর্ণ করুন। শুধুমাত্র রেজিস্টার্ড চিকিৎসকের প্রেসক্রিপশন অনুযায়ী ব্যবহার করুন।
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to penicillins; history of a severe allergic reaction to any beta-lactam antibiotic.

Storage Conditions
Store below 30°C in a cool, dry place, away from light. Keep out of the reach of children.
Use the reconstituted suspension within the period stated on the label.
